Portfolio - Fountain Pens
A selection of things I've made, either from my own mind or as a commissioned order for a customer.
I found this Sheaffer P6 fountain pen cheap on eBay. It didn't have a cap/base/stand, so I made one. I wrapped the nib and grip section in tin foil and covered it in layers of UV resin to make the cap, embedding the swivel hardware in the tip of the cap. I then cured UV resin over the base of the swivel hardware in a nice splat shape, did a little filing and shaping, and painted the base green ala '90s Nickelodeon. I use Diamine Appletini with this pen, as its a great match to my Splat base.
I also found this Esterbrook WQ cheap on Ebay, but it didn't come with a base. After restoring the pen I started making the cap and base. I wrapped the nib in tin foil, then coated it in layers of UV resin to make the cap. I used a wire and aluminum foil armature for the dragon and sculped it using Apoxie Sculpt. I added a dip pen nib to the tip of his tail. I burnished some multichromatic powder on his back then cured tiny dots of UV resin over it to create the scale texture; a wash of dark acrylic paint over top made the colors and texture pop. The eyes are painted with nail polish then domed slightly with clear UV resin.
After I learned that Clipectomies are a thing that some hobbiests do to their Pilot Vanishing Point fountain pens, I decided to do one on a pearl white Decimo. I needed the clip out of the way so I could water marble it with a rainbow of nail polish colors, using the same techniques I do with my crochet hooks. After I sealed the paint job with UV resin, I re-attached the nose cone.
This navy Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo's paint job also required a Clipectomy. I did a nebulous/galaxy theme with multichromatic flakes, ultrafine glitter inks, and a few carefully placed star-shaped silver confetti's. I sealed everything in with UV resin before re-attaching the nose cone.
